1) Tonight at midnight registration opens up for the Called to Love retreat I told you about in my last post. I am so excited and honored to be a part of the planning team! If you are an adoptive mom, a foster mom or know of an adoptive mom or foster mom that needs some rejuvenation and encouragement then you need to consider this retreat. We don’t want to create any false hype, but there has been a lot of interest expressed, so you may want to get registered sooner than later. We have capped it at about 150, but if we get enough interest that we need to start a waiting list, we will. We are so excited to see where God is going to take this.
2) My sister-in-law, Michelle, that I told you about in this post is going in tomorrow to have a port put in so that she can begin her chemo routine on Thursday. Last year when I was gearing up to start radiation, I was a mental wreck. I cannot imagine the anticipation, fear and mental anguish that must be going through her head right now. She is asking for prayer and a lot of it. I am sure she needs prayer for peace and calmness for tomorrow and Thursday and prayer for as few side effects as possible from the chemo. As you know, God can do anything, even make the side effects of chemo minimal. Thank you!
3) This one is big…after having no front teeth for the last 18 months, Hannah finally has one coming in! She is going to look so different with front teeth. We are so used to her gapped grin. We told her if she didn’t get her teeth by Halloween, we were going to put a candle in her mouth and put her on the front porch!
4) We are all settled into the new house and LOVING it! I told Shad last night that I still walk around the house and get this feeling of awe that God has allowed us to live in this house. It’s so beautiful, it’s warm when it needs to be warm, cool when it needs to be, the carpeting is so plush and I love to wiggle my toes down into it, the yard is so perfect and the street we live on is a dead end with a “gravel pit,” as the kids call it, at the end of the street. They love to ride their bikes up and down the street and Josh digs up ants down there. We have a really nice neighbor across the street and he has an 11 year old boy that will play with Josh and Hannah (and he’s a nice kid) and I have already been next door for a party.
5) Speaking of ants, they are also inside the house. Boo. According the bug guy all bugs will be bad this year due to the mild winter we had. It is, of course, not the best thing, but they are already starting to disappear since we had the house sprayed. They have also kept Josh very interested. He is currently studying bugs at school, so this has been a great learning experience for him. Here’s to looking on the bight side of having bugs in your new house.
6) I am off to a PTA retreat for the weekend. While it is nice to have a weekend away with some really fun girls, it is a working weekend. We are pretty much in classes all day. But, I won’t have to worry about what to make for dinner for 3 straight nights, so it is totally worth it!
7) Oh my goodness, have you seen the commercials for Farmer’s Only?! A dating sight for country folk and farmers. Their saying is “City folk just don’t get it!” I thought the commercial was a joke, but it has an actual website, so wow. Funny stuff.
That’s it.
