Poor Bethers. She's got hand-foot-mouth disease and it's not very pretty.
It's the worst on the lower half of her body.
Especially on the backs of her legs.
Both of her feet are a little swollen with the most angry looking blisters. She acts like her feet are sore and would cry when I set her down on the floor this morning. I put socks on her feet and now she walks around a little stiff looking, but happily.
She has blisters on her hands.
It's kind of cute, she will sit in her high chair and point to the blisters then look up at me. They don't seem to upset her, she just know they aren't supposed to be there.
Her spirits are pretty good, considering how yucky she looks. I had to take this picture of the few spots on her face 5 times before I could get a good one because she kept reaching up and whacking the camera with a very mischievous look on her face.
It appears that we got this virus at church. One of my friends has two out of her three boys at home with the same thing. Another friend said she heard it was going around at church. And the doctor said, yesterday, that he has been seeing a lot of this lately. Even the receptionist at the doctor office said her kids all just got this from their neighbor kids. It's good to know that we aren't the only ones, I guess. The bright side is that Bethany is in pretty good spirits (although fussy in the evenings) and sleeps pretty well at night. I'm thanking God for that. Her naps have been hit or miss, but I'm not going to complain as long as she sleeps at night. She has been known to keep us up all night when she gets sick. Her appetite is not great. She eats when offered, just not very much at a time. The doctor only saw one sore in the back of her mouth and said her small palate is red. I am sure her throat hurts, but she also has a tendency to not have an appetite any time she is sick. So far Josh and Hannah are in the clear, although Hannah had a mild fever and didn't feel good Saturday night until Sunday afternoon. We'll see what comes of that. So far no spots.
So we are hanging out at home for the time being. It's pretty contagious and we don't want to share. We are praying Bethany heals quickly and Josh and Hannah don't even get it. For now I will call Bethany my little polk-a-dot princess and enjoy the snuggle time.

I told our pediatrician about Bethany and she said we could expect to have an outbreak also. Oh the joys. Hang in there.
Jace has had a rash for a couple days this week and woke up with it much worse today (on his bottom and around his mouth), and thanks to you, I think I know what it is!!! So while I'm not happy for Bethany or Jace, I really appreciate having just heard about it and seen pictures of it. It must really be going around these days. I'm thinking he was exposed to it at Bible Study childcare last week.
