I decided to wait until today to do my "first day of school" post because Josh started on Wednesday but Hannah didn't start until today. I was too lazy to do two different posts. Plus, right now, I am sitting in a silent house because the big kids are still at school and Bethany is napping. It's a treat to do a blog post with out having to stop to break up a fight. Did I mention it's quiet in my house? Crazy quiet.
Anyway, like I said, Josh's first day of first grade was on Wednesday. He started the morning like he always does when he is nervous, by complaining. We just have to get through it. I know it, Shad knows it, even Hannah knows it. So we just listened (half heartedly), said a prayer and headed out the door to school. I drove him on the first day, his request.
Seriously, this is how happy he was about school.
Once we got to school he walked slowly into class, taking it all in. He found his seat and was excited about the coloring sheet on his desk and got right to work. Hannah, Bethany and I stayed for about 2 minutes then we said goodbye. By the time he got home from school he was in a good mood, had made a couple new friends and was excited to ride the bus the next day. Like I said, we just have to get through the first morning.
Hannah, on the other hand, was excited for kindergarten and to ride the bus!
She put a lot of thought into her outfit, then came down with these brown boots on. I knew they didn't really go and that it was going to be 95 degrees today, but I let it go. (By the time the bus arrived, she had rolled up her leggings to her knees. Oh my...)
So the bus ended up being a bit of a fiasco. When the driver stopped to pick up Hannah and the other little girl at our stop he said he didn't have our stop on his list, but he took their names down and headed down the street with the girls. It wasn't until I started walking back to the house that I started to wonder if he was some crazy weirdo that had stolen a bus and was driving around the neighborhood picking up little girls from naive parents. But I told myself not to go there, then I hopped in my car to meet the bus at the school. (I had already planned to do that.)
The bus was about 20 minutes late. Apparently it is the only one for PM kindergarten and there are a lot of stops. Monday should be better, I am told. Hey, at least Hannah was picked up, some kids came in really late because the bus never showed.
See, here she is safe and sound at school. The kids were all red cheeked, it was darn hot.
Here she is holding hands with her little friend from the bus stop. It was so sweet, they were trying to get the kids to line up by class and Hannah turned around and grabbed her friend's hand so she wouldn't get lost.
And here she is in class.
This is our first year at public school, I'm a little scared. But I am going in with an open heart and trusting God's plan for my kids. So, here's to a great first grade and kindergarten year!

I love it. The real, true chaotic start for the year. That bus story scared the crap out of me, so thanks for that. I'm really glad it all worked out! And I'm excited for you to have PM kinder! That will be so nice. Carson's first day is Tuesday. We'll see! Love ya.
Jen- I am thinking that I will probably just drive Hannah each day. After hearing from another mom our stop may not even be on the route. No biggie for me, actually a little relief. She can ride home after with Josh with a female driver that has been consistent all week. Don't be afraid, God has their backs when we aren't there. Well, that's what I keep telling myself. :) I am glad we are walking through this journey together. You, know like our third babies. Love ya, too!
