This year Shad took two days off, mid-week, so we could spend a night at the beach. I would like to say that our trip went off without a hitch, but there was the time that Josh realized that he only packed one shirt, or that Mom had the kids pack long pants and coats only to get there and discover that shorts were called for and, sadly, the time on the way home that Josh realized that he forgot his favorite blanket in the hotel room. But other than those small (except the blanket, that was news worthy) mishaps, our trip was fantastic!
When we arrived, the clouds were thin and hazy, which was a good thing because it kept the wind away. It was about 60 degrees too!
Josh got right to digging.
We cannot keep this girl out of the ocean.
Nor this one out of the sand.
I had my camera on a weird setting, so a lot of the pictures came out over exposed. I’m still figuring that thing out.
See, cloudy, but warm and, most importantly, NO WIND!
My attempt at an artsy picture of drift wood.
Day one we also enjoyed clam chowder and fish n chips at our favorite cafeteria-like restaurant for dinner. Then we headed to the hotel where we spent two hours in the pool/hot tub. We ended the day by eating ice cream in our room and watching movies. Bethany fell asleep during the movie as she was pooped. I had to roll her over twice due to her loud snoring. We all had a good laugh at that.
The beach, day 2: super sunny and it would have been warm except for the incessant wind. But that didn’t stop the kids from enjoying themselves.
Bethany’s sand castles that she trampled just after I took this.
Josh after crossing the river behind him.
At one point, we decided that Josh was too tall, so we sawed off his legs at the knees.
Hannah thought it was hilarious to be taller than her big bro.
Hannah’s sand cake.
I don’t know, Shad took this one. Josh and I were trying to play Frisbee, but the thing either flew with the wind way too far, or against the wind like a boomerang.
Family picture time!
I love this goofy family!
