My Favorite Parts

It’s hard to believe that what started all the way back in October is just a week away from being finished.  Yes, our house is due to be finished this Friday, with it closing by the following Friday.  It has been such a joy to watch this house come together so beautifully.  The builder’s attention to detail has surprised us.  Not everything has gone perfectly, but, all in all, we have been very happy with our builder.  We went through the house yesterday and I found myself lingering in a couple of different spots, thinking about how that space would be used.  Here are a few of my favorite parts of our new house:

Our old house back home had no cover what so ever over the front porch, if you could even call it that.  The wind always blew the rain against the front door, so there was no getting out of the rain for anyone that came to our door.  And when it was hot out, the front porch got the full sun in the afternoon.  The front door was too hot to even touch!  So when I look at this front porch it makes me smile.

I lingered in the kitchen for a very long time.  I LOVE the kitchen from the mocha finish on the cabinets to the granite counter tops to the gas stove to the walk-in pantry.  But my most favorite thing in the kitchen, and I think I have said this before, is the window above the sink that looks out into the backyard.

The backyard.  I can imagine Josh climbing the rock wall and jumping off, I can see Hannah doing cart wheels in the grass and Bethany riding her trike on the covered patio.  I can’t wait for our first BBQ this summer and to plant some colorful flowers and plants in the rocks.  Shad’s favorite thing about the backyard, he can mow it with a push mower in less than a half hour.  That makes him smile.

It's beautiful! I can't wait to see it in person! Thanks for sharing the details. I've heard so many horror stories about people building, and I'm so happy it's not your story. Beautiful!
