We’re Getting Close

IMG_9644

We went through the house today and we were so excited by what we saw.

I was a little nervous about the yellow accent color at first, but now that it is all together, I pretty much love it!  Shad and I are both a little unsure of the shudders.  They look a little slapped on to us.  But, like the yellow accent color, we are going to give it a little time and see if they grow on us.

They have gotten the forms up for pouring the concrete.  We were not excited with the way they were going to do the front porch, so Shad went back later with the realtor and marked out how we want it done.  Phew!

This is what I have been waiting for!  The kitchen is coming together and I LOVE, LOVE it!!

IMG_9652

The cabinets are so beautiful.

My absolute MOST favorite thing in the kitchen (besides Bethany) is the big window over the sink.

We’ll also have a bar here.

IMG_9650

This is where the fridge will go.  And behind Shad, my second most favorite thing in the kitchen…

IMG_9651

a walk-in pantry with tons of shelving.  No more putting canned food in the cupboards.

IMG_9647

This is the laundry room.  We were so excited to see the sink and all the cupboards.

And I love the linoleum in the laundry room.  Nice and dark to hide the dirt.

The laminate wood is going in a looking good.  We realized that it is a little darker than we thought, so it might be a little matchy with kitchen cabinets.  But, we are pretty OK with that because it still looks so pretty.

IMG_9655

The gas fireplace in the family room.  They called me a couple weeks ago and said we forgot to choose a tile for the fireplace.  I had remembered that the one we chose for the master bath tub enclosure was my favorite, so I told them to use that here too.  I think I made the right choice.

We were expecting a pedestal sink in the downstairs powder room, but we were pleasantly surprised to see a counter with a cabinet.

IMG_9658

The flooring looks nice too.  Imagine a toilet here.

IMG_9659

They stained the bannister this week and it looks so pretty.  The spindles will be black rot iron, but for now we have to keep a close eye on Bethers.

The master bedroom.

IMG_9665

I love the window in the master closet, it lets in lots of light.  We are going to put cellular blinds over this window so we can still get lots of light while maintaining privacy.  I am guessing we will never open the blinds in here.

IMG_9666

The shelving came out so nice and I love the paint color.

IMG_9668

The master bath is looking good too.

The house is coming along so nicely.  Shad and I are so pleased with our builder.  He really seems to want things to look nice and not slapped together or like they were done cheaply.  Every time we look at the house we are reminded of how thankful we are that God has given us the means to buy this house.  It looks like we should be moving in by the beginning of April and we can’t wait!
