Costumes!

You may remember my post about Bethany, our little troll, from last Halloween.

She was an adorable little garden gnome that was inspired by Juliet from the movie Gnomeo and Juliet.

My friend, Jill, over at Made It On Monday, made this costume for Bethany.  She did an amazing job!  So this year for the Halloween party we went to on Saturday, I was tempted to hit her up to make a costume for Bethany again this year.  But, I had no inspiration and she just had a baby.  Needless to say, I think Jill may be a little busy.  So I scoured the Halloween costume websites and the costume stores and I could not find anything that screamed Bethany at me.  But then it hit me!  From age 9 months to 20 months babies tend to grow up but not around.  I wondered if I could get Bethany back in her Juliet costume.

What do you know?!  It still fits!  And Bethany was very happy to wear her custom made costume again this year.  Really, it was a win/win because she looked super adorable and I didn't have to spend a dime on a new costume for her.

Incidentally, before I had the costume epiphany for Bethany, Hannah saw this costume on the Halloween costume website and decided she had to have it.  So we had a garden gnome Juliet and a Shakespeare Juliet.  Both as adorable as the other.

I was unable to get Josh to pose for a picture in his costume.  He is quite self conscious when it comes to dressing up.  Funny, because that kid will run around the yard with an Obe Wan costume on sporting 3 light sabers and a couple swords.  Whatever.  He decided to dress as Leonardo the blue Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

And since we were headed to a family friendly Halloween party, Shad and I had to get in the spirit.  So at the last minute I headed to the local Halloween store.  I intentionally went during the day when the big kids were in school.  I cannot stand the horribly realistic, scary figures they decorate their stores with.  I didn't want to even take the kids in there.  Also, why is every woman's costume slutty?  When did Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Merida, witches and Ms. Pop Eye (?!!) become slutty?  It's offensive really.  Why can't Halloween just be fun with a touch of spooky instead of overly realistic scary and super sexy?  Anyway, one of the only costumes I could find on the entire wall of costumes for women that had a skirt below my mid thigh was Olive Oyl.  Don't we look cute?

Happy Halloween!
