Guns, Squirrels and a Stroller

About two years ago, Shad bought an air soft rifle (kind of like a BB gun, but the BBs are plastic) at an auction.  Josh and Shad really enjoyed that thing...for about a week.  Unfortunately, it was not a top of the line gun.  After two good gun wars, it stopped working.  Since that gun, Shad and Josh have been talking and scheming about their next air soft gun.  2 years later, Shad finally bit the bullet (ahem) and bought a new gun.

Shooting together has been a great bonding tool for Shad and Josh.  It is something they both really enjoy.  Here's Shad with the new rifle and Josh with his BB gun.

This is the target that Shad made with Josh's specifications:  a zombie on the left and a squirrel on the right.  Apparently the squirrel has some kind of hand gun?

This is very serious business, Folks.

Very serious.

OK, I may enjoy shooting the hand gun toting squirrel too.

This is the coolest boy I know, right here.

In other news, after 7 1/2 years of having kids, I bought my first jogging stroller.  I bought it at a second hand store for $75.  As I have mentioned before, to exercise, I run laps around our property.  I can see the house the entire time and am never far away.  It has been quite convenient this summer.  I can go out and do my 2.2 miles in 30 minutes before the kids get up, but I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get it done before Shad leaves for work.  But, now that school has started, I would have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a run in before the kids get up for school (no more sleeping in until 8:30 for them), so I had to come up with a different running plan.  I thought about joining the gym, but 1)  I didn't want to spend the money, 2)  I don't want to have to drive somewhere to work out, and 3)  I like running outside better than inside on a treadmill.  So my new plan is to get the kids on the bus, then take off from there pushing Bethany in the new stroller.  I already have a good 2 mile loop mapped out and I have run it twice without the stroller.  I am sure it will be a bit more challenging pushing 30 pounds of stroller and baby, but I am excited to burn even more calories.  Now I just need to get my morning schedule cleared up so I can start my new running routine.  Last week I was at the school every morning and this week, between dental appointments for the kids, starting the women's bible study at church, PTA stuff and a coffee date with the bus stop moms, it looks like I will be able to run on Thursday.  Oh well, one day is better than none, right.
