In honor of Hannah's sixth birthday on August 10th, my mom and I took Hannah out for a special day on Saturday.
We started our day at the nail salon. Hannah got her toes painted pink with purple flowers on her big toes and neon green on her fingers.
While we were waiting for Grandma's nails to dry, Hannah got cold in the A/C and asked if she could sit outside where it was about 95 degrees, to warm up. Since I was sitting in a chair right next to the window, I said sure. My parents got Hannah a make up bag full of light colored make up for her birthday gift, which she brought with her on our girls' day.
She sat herself down on the sidewalk and proceeded to touch up her make up, that she had already applied at home twice before we left the house.
She is such a doll.
After lunch at the "place where the fire goes up" (Mongolian Grill), we headed to the mall to get...her ears pierced! She said she was only a little nervous but mostly excited. I had to gently talk her out of the dolphins that I knew she would get tired of and the blue butterflies because I knew she would eventually get upset that they didn't match all of her clothes. She settled on silver hearts. Good choice.
I don't know why, but when she is uncomfortable, she puts her arms like this. Protective pose, I guess.
At first she wanted to sit on my lap while they marked and cleaned her ears.
Then she decided that she didn't need me that close.
She couldn't stop smiling.
When the earrings went in all she did was look up and say "ouch". That was it.
One happy girl, right there.
And she even got a lolly pop.
My pretty, growing up way too fast, girly.
On the way home Hannah told us that she pictured that they would take a couple steps back and then shoot the earrings in. I guess I did keep telling her they used a gun to shoot the earrings through her ears. Ha!
During the process we learned that the two girls who were piercing Hannah's ears were named Hannah and Elizabeth. My Hannah Elizabeth was pretty impressed that they all had the same name. Just one more thing to make Hannah's special day even more memorable. A "God kiss" as my mom put it.
