The MV

When Josh was 6 months old, we bought an Expedition.  At the time, it seemed like it was way too big for our family of 3 plus a dog, but as the years have passed it has turned out the be the perfect sized car for our family (now a family of 5 plus a dog).  We can fit all of us in it plus 3 more!  I have really enjoyed driving my Expedition and honestly, have been a little smug about it.  I've talked a lot of trash about mini vans over the years.  I have even mourned for my friends that have "given in" and bought one of those dork-mobiles.  (insert awkward laugh...Sorry.)

Seven years later...

And now, I own and drive one of those dork-mobiles.  Due to certain circumstances, which I won't bore you with, we had to get another vehicle.  We talked, discussed, debated, I cried a little and Shad crunched the numbers over and over and the decision came down to three things:  price, gas miledge and pride.  Shad asked me one day what it was that kept me from wanting to drive a mini van and all I could say was, "nothing but pride."  This was not a good argument when talking with my analytical, number crunching husband.  Shad took every cost involved with driving a vehicle (cost of the vehicle, interest, gas, maintenance, tires, oil changes, etc) and figured how much it would cost to drive it over the next ten years, per mile, and the mini van won, hands down.  So, I humbled myself (sort of) and agreed to look at them.  Two weeks later, there's one sitting in my driveway and I keep sitting behind the wheel to drive it.  And, holy cow, I actually enjoy it!  Oh the humanity.

Did you know that the back doors just slide open at the push of a button?!

Hello, my name is Becky and I like my new mini van.

Love it! And I'm glad you're enjoying it :) I always loved the way my parents' van drove in college (not that I would have wanted one of my own at the time), and don't think I'll resist too much when the day comes for us.

hahaha! This makes me so happy. My turn to have the evil laugh! Now that you've surrendered, I bet you will love it! The convenience trumps everything. How about an inaugural drive down to Keizer for a playdate?
