Leaves! Part 2 or Getting Rid of the Insane Amount of Leaves in Our Yard

It wasn't an easy job.  It took a total of 8 hours, split into 2 different days, for Shad and I to get all the leaves picked up and taken to the dump.  In case you don't remember, this is what the driveway looked like after the 17 trees lining it finally dropped all their leaves.

Really it was fun having all the leaves on the ground.  We had leaf fights, kicked them as we walked up and down the driveway to the bus stop and I enjoyed gunning the car up the driveway causing it the rear end to slide sideways.

Shad started by blowing all the leaves toward the driveway.

We put a tarp on top of the trailer after this.

As Shad blew the leaves into a pile, Hannah and I raked them into the middle of the driveway.  This was about the time that Josh disappeared into the house.  He said something about it being too cold, which translated into "this is way too much work."

We continued moving all the leaves toward the middle of the driveway.  Shad blowing them and Hannah and I raking.

We only had a few leaf fights along the way.

So this is what Josh was doing in the house.  Building.  Now he has his own blower to help Dad.

He even put his blower down to help pick up the leaves.  Once he came back outside, he really was pretty helpful.  It's on his terms, but he does try when he feels like it.

Shad was smart and pulled the utility trailer down the driveway with the truck so we could "easily" (is shoveling ever easy???) shovel the leaves into it.  It was about this time that the blister on my thumb popped and was on fire.

I love these guys!

Bethany, up from her nap.  Did I mention it was in the upper 30's the day we did this?  I was still sweating.

This was about the point that we had a full trailer and hauled it to the dump.  We had 1200 pounds of leaves in that load.

Ah, the fruits of our labor.  Looks good, huh?

If you look really close at the black trailer you will notice that it has leaves in it.  Ya, they didn't all fit in the first load.

The following weekend we picked up the leaves in the backyard and from the other trees in the front yard and added them to this load.  All together we dumped about 2500 pounds of leaves.  It was a lot of work, but it was also kind of fun.

Even if it's cleaning up leaves and doing yard work, I always enjoy spending time with this guy!

The kids are alright too.
