The Update

So I took Sweet Bethany to the doctor today.  He is fairly certain that she has a milk allergy of some kind.  However he wants to rule out anything "major" so he still suggests that we see the pediatric GI doctor in the big city.  He also said her labs were fine.  She is doing so much better on the lactose free formula.  I have only seen a tiny spec of blood in two of her diapers in the last 36 hours and the consistency is improving and the frequency is lessening.  All good things.  But since she is so young and it has been a bit persistent he wants us to go up north.

When I arrived home from getting Josh and Hannah at school there was a message from the GI clinic that they could get us in tomorrow afternoon but I needed to call them back ASAP, which I did.  So tomorrow it is.  This is pretty huge.  I don't know if you have ever had to wait for a specialist to contact you after your doctor makes a referral, but I have and it usually takes waiting at least a week, calling your primary letting them know you haven't heard anything, then waiting another week.  So I am thanking God, once again, for the the speedy referral.  I am sure she is fine, but, like Shad said, if she is not fine, she is fine because God is bigger than all of this.  Still, as a mom, I am concerned, but trying to trust God.  Thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for all of us.  Mostly for sanity for me, but also for peace no matter what comes of all of this.

Just read this whole update and I can only imagine how frightening this was for you as a mother of a new baby!! If it makes you feel any comfort, my Lanie had the same issue - I gave up Bf'ing around 6 weeks and put her on formula - she had persistant green and mucousy and sometimes bloody diarrhea and it scared the crap out of me!! I experimented with a couple of different formula options and it was the lactose free (sensitive formula) that did the trick. She is still a bit "loose" all the time, but definitely not what is was at first! Target has a really good generic sensitive formula (it comes in the white can with pink writing) and it is half the cost of the name brand.

OK, OH MY GOSH, I just read about this whole ordeal! BECKY! I'm so sorry I didn't know this was going on. I'm glad you'll get in to see the specialist so quickly. If you'd like to leave the kids here with me, I'd be more than happy to watch them. I will be praying for you and for Bethany that this whole thing will blow over and you can have peace again! Love you tons.

I just read this... I am right there with you! Macy went and is going through the same thing. Turns out she is allergic to a lot but its nothing we can't handle. I know whatever is going on with sweet Bethany will be handled perfectly because we serve a great big god. PS the sensitive formula works wonders. I am praying for peace <3
