Today is it. The end of and era. Well, I don't really know how long an era is or what it is exactly, but it sounds good anyway. Today is the last day of summer vacation. Tomorrow we get up early and I take Josh to Kindergarten and Hannah to preschool. Tomorrow we begin a new routine and I couldn't be more pleased. Summer is nice. The sleeping in is great, but it's time to get back at it. Time to get up and get going, instead of getting up and slowly moving through the day.
And in honor of this day being the end of summer vacation the kids and I are...not doing anything exciting at all. We all seem to be a little task oriented today. I've already done three loads of laundry, sent some emails, vacuumed the house, made Josh climb under his bed and pull out all the toys, dirty socks and granola bar wrappers and put them in their appropriate places, stripped his bed and started this blog post all before noon. Josh seems to be focused on reading the Lego magazine one of his friends gave him and trying to build the things he sees in the pictures. And Hannah is in her room with the door shut changing into her third dress up outfit of the morning while wearing her shiny lip gloss. I guess we all have stuff we want to get done before our mornings become interrupted by the school routine.
Since school starts tomorrow, so does me going back to the gym. I haven't been all summer long for a few reasons. There was the all day long morning sickness that started pretty much the day after I saw those two pink lines back in June. Then in July I sprained my ankle and it is still healing. And last, I have to pay to take the kids to the gym and that was going to be spendy. So it was pretty much defaulted that I would take the summer off. But tomorrow I will drag myself into the gym, put on my ankle brace, too tight yoga pants and sports bra, and get my growing body up on the tread mill and see what this girl can do. It should be interesting.
So I look forward to tomorrow and the new routine. And I will enjoy it and get it just right so that in about 5 months the whole thing can be completely thrown off by the arrival of our new little one. What better to mess up a nice routine than a tiny little pink baby, right? So now I am off to make lunch, finish the laundry, bake some banana bread and figure out why I can't sync this Sunday's sermon onto my MP3 player so I can listen to it tomorrow on the tread mill. By the way, tomorrow I am going to try something fun called What I Wore Wednesday. I got the idea from Debra over here and it looked like so much fun I thought that tomorrow I would give it a try. Have a great day!
