The New Kids

Imagine it. Christmas evening at my parents' house and I am handed a gift that is simply labeled

"To: Becky"

"From NKOTB"

What? The New Kids on the Block? Is this a joke?? I instantly look up at my sister who, smiling coyly, just shrugs her shoulders and says, "I don't know..."

Let's back up a bit. Back in the New Kids days I was at the perfect age, junior high, to become completely, over the top in love with the New Kids! Joey Joe to be specific. My little sister, Abby, and I shared a room at the time. We each had our respective wall that we would hang our "Big Bopper" posters on. Mine were plastered with Joe and hers with Danny, I think. She really liked Joe too, but I was older and I wouldn't allow her to like him best if I liked him best. So she had to just settle for a less cute one. Now that I think of it I can't remember if she chose Danny or Jordan. I guess it's neither here nor there. Anyway we were both big fans of the guys! So when I saw a gift that was "from" NKOTB I naturally looked to her.

Apparently I made her a gift during that time, that I have forgotten about, or maybe I stuffed the memory away due to embarrassment, I don't know. Thankfully, my sister found it, framed it and wrapped it up for me to open in front of our entire family. Here it is...

You may have to put your face to the screen and squint a bit so look very closely. I guess I am not that embarrassed since I am posting it on this blog. I guess I will just take it in stride and "Hang Tough" while I allow you all to enjoy a giggle on my expense. But if you try to walk away without really being able to read the picture then all I can say is..."Please don't go girl."
