No, I don't plan on being one of those moms that puts her tiny girl in hair pieces, fake teeth, fake tans and puffy Jon Benet Ramsey type dresses, but I love having a girl that wants to look cute and pretty. And, hear me when I say, I tell her she looks pretty even if she has a snotty nose and flat hair. But I don't think there is anything wrong with encouraging a little girl's desire to dress up and have a special hair-doo. So when Hannah asks me to make her hair curly, I will say yes. (This really just includes some mousse and using the diffuser when I dry her hair. Yes, we blow dry her hair after every washing. We wouldn't want it to dry funny...)

On another note, I went to Josh's first parent/teacher conference today. I found out that they do, indeed, have a report card for preschoolers. It's really only stars, pluses and checks. Josh had all stars and pluses, so that made me pretty proud. All in all he is doing quite well and has had no problem catching up with the rest of the kids as he started a month later. His teacher was actually quite impressed. She said he recognizes all of his letters (a little trouble with the "M"), all numbers up to 10, gets along with the other kids, obeys, doesn't complain or talk back, and is a likable kid. She said he can count to 29 and that they only expect a preschooler to count to 10. Then I told her that as of yesterday he can actually count to 100. He has been practicing (like, to the point of making his mom a little crazy) a lot. Again, she was impressed. The only negatives were that we need to give him shorter pencils so that he will be forced to learn how to hold the pencil lower and that he is a little slow at finishing his assignments and projects. I told her that he is slow probably because he is meticulous and likes to do it just right and she agreed. It was really great to sit down and get a non parent's take on my little guy.

Last bit of randomness is that I am heading out tomorrow for the woman's retreat for church over at the coast. It is always a great weekend of fun and, sometimes, gut wrentchingness (if that is a word). I will be glad to have a weekend away with just adults. We'll see what God has in store for me this weekend.

Over and out.

She is definitely pretty! I am so happy that I have a girly-girl too. Although she can tom-boy it up once in a while. Jarekah loves to play dress up and brush my hair. It is really cute!
