OK so I did it! I've put it off this entire week, but today was it. It was now or too late. I always dread it and I always put it off as long as I can. But today I rolled up my sleeves, got out my cleaning caddy and I...dun, dun, dun...cleaned the bathrooms. It is a job I hate, despise really. Especially in this rental because I still feel like I am cleaning up after people other than my family. And believe me, with a 4 year old boy in the house, it's gross enough without the thought that other people have peed here before us. You are probably wondering how I can be a nurse and do colonoscopies but get grossed out by a toilet. Well, I don't know what to tell you. Butts are natural and made by God. Besides I have a job to do. But the toilet, well, it is just gross!
Why was today the breaking point? Well, we are going to have some guests this weekend. They will actually sleep in our trailer in the driveway (Which I cleaned yesterday. And don't even get me started on how much I enjoy climbing up and down that dang ladder to make the bed...), but I can't have people in my house with a pee-pee bathroom and dirty floors. Not to mention the amount of toothpaste a 4 year old and 2 year old can spread around the sink and counters. There I go again...sorry. I'll let it go. I know most normal folks don't like to clean bathrooms. I don't know what makes me so special.
Anyway we have 2 dear friends from our church back home coming for a short but sweet visit. They will arrive tomorrow afternoon and head back on Saturday afternoon stopping on the way home to visit family. So who is coming, you are probably wondering. Why it's Karen and Cindy, of course. We know these gals from our in home bible study. These girls have been best friends for like forever and are often mistaken for sisters. They are a ball to hang with and they love to giggle! I went to my first woman's retreat with them and had a blast!
Karen is not only our friend, but she was also our babysitter when I was working. And what an amazing babysitter she is. She is like a second mom! In fact Shad called her that one time and I realized that it didn't even bother me. (You know how us moms are, territorial.) Josh and Hannah loved going to Karen's and it was great for me to have someone I trusted with my kids. And what a treat it was to have her as our babysitter.
And Cindy is a great gal, and a mom of boys. I have only met one of her boys, but he is so kind and just easy to talk to. She has done a great job raising him. (Did I mention he is hansome, too?) We prayed for her a lot in our group as she had one boy in Iraq. What a scary time, I can't even imagine what she went through.
So I guess you can tell I am excited to see the girls! I love when they visit because they are content just visiting and hanging out. They don't expect sight seeing (snort! What sights? We live in the desert!) or major entertainment. I am glad to be able to catch up with them. That being said, don't expect a post from me for a couple of days. I just want to enjoy visiting with some good friends.
And just a side note: For those of you that had to endure my post awhile back called "Pressure," I have come to some terms about my trip and realized that I need to go. I need a break like peanut butter needs jelly! I have been experiencing a lot of mom guilt about leaving and it doesn't help that it is the weekend of Father's Day. But I am going and I am going to have a great time with another good friend! Just in case you were wondering. And I know that God will still love me because His Word says so: Romans 8:39 "...neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." And I will leave you with that. Have a wonderful weekend!!
