Tonight my wonderful husband is in the sage brush littered hills just outside of town making very good use of his time. Him and a bunch of other guys are having a ground squirrel (you know, the whistle pigs) shooting derby. They each put in $10 and whomever brings back the most tails wins the pot. And I really do mean he is making good use of his time because 1) the ground squirrels are horrible and tear up the ground (think moles or ground hogs) and 2) he is out having a good time with the guys and 3) he took Josh and his dad who came over today. I really think it is important for him to go out once in awhile and just do "guy stuff." (Although, I will admit that those little buggers are fun to hunt, so I guess you could call it "girl stuff" too. Don't tell him I said that!) And I know that Shad would say the same for me, in fact he just did today. He really doesn't care if I go on vacation over Father's Day weekend. God bless that man!!
So I am sitting at home with my little girl, and boy do I appreciate her! I love my boy and would never trade him for anyone else, but he is a busy kid! My little Hannah is content to sit around with Mommy, watch "John and Kate Plus 8" (she asked for that show by name), and just relax. Right now she is in a bubble bath. I can't believe how quiet that bathroom is when it is just her in the tub. I haven't heard one single splash! So here it is 7:30 at night and I have been in my sweats for and hour. What a lovely evening with my girl. I love the noise and craziness that comes with 2 kids, but I also enjoy a nice quiet evening with my sweet little girl. So I will continue to enjoy the quiet until the boys get home and all the you know what breaks loose!
On a side note: I just realized that there are 3 generations of guys out there shooting those whistle pigs. Grandpa Dan, Shad and Joshy. And wouldn't you know it that all three of those guys share the same birthday, December 16th. I will never be able to top the birthday gift that I gave Shad (with a little help from God) on his 29th birthday! Come to think of it, I bet it was a pretty cool gift for Grandpa Dan too. His first grandchild on his 54th birthday! God is so good isn't He?!
