A Little Reminder

Our little friend Addison taught the silliest song to Josh and Hannah. You may have heard it, but maybe not. It goes like this:
There was a little turtle
His name was Tiny Tim
They put him in the bath tub
To see if he could swim
He drank up all the water
He ate up all the soap
He woke up in the morning
With a bubble in his throat
BLEH!
(imagine small children making the loudest burping sound that they can)

Since we have been living in the desert, and probably a little before we moved, I have been trying my hardest to figure out what God's plan was for bringing us here. I have really twisted my guts into knots worrying and wondering. It seems that when a person is in the middle of a trial it is hard to see what God is doing in the day to day because we can't think past the whole experience. And sometimes when you aren't looking God gives you a little reminder about the little things He has been doing in your life when you were too busy looking at the big picture.
So, last night, when I was trying to fall asleep I started to think about that little reminder He had given me a few hour earlier and all I could do was start thanking Him for all the small things He has given us over here in the desert: that we have a nice house to live in that allows us to have our dog, that there are 2 giant trees in the front yard that give so much shade the kids can play out there even when it is so hot, that Shad is home by 5 or 6 almost every night so we can eat dinner together and then I can go to the gym, that Hannah has grown from a toddler to a little girl since we moved, that Josh is able to build dozers and excavators with his K'nex, that we have a church that has treated us like family since the first day we attended, that we have friends here that are like family, that our pastors say "I love you" to us when we leave, that we have a friend here that is willing to keep an eye on our dog if we go away without her, that Shad has ton's of hunting to do here, that Target and Old Navy are only 30 miles away, that we have family and friends back home anxiously waiting for us to move back, that our community group back home plans potlucks around our visits so we can be there, that our friends and families are willing to make the trek across the state to visit us, that we have a water slide park an hour away, that Grandma Connie continues to spoil the kids by sending boxes of toys and candy, that Grandma Carroll shows her love by sending e-cards to the kids, that we have a house to go to when we do end up back home, and last that even though I question His plan for my life God continues to love me and my family no matter what!

Last night when we were putting the kids to bed Hannah volunteered to say the prayer. We have only begun to actually understand her prayers in the last few weeks because she tends to mumble. So this is how her prayer went:
"Dear God, thank you for this day. And please help Joshy to wake up in the morning with a bubble in his throat. BLEH!"
All 4 of us just cracked up and I am pretty sure God was laughing too. We laughed until I cried and it was hard for all of us to stop. I thank God for that little reminder that I don't need to spend my time worrying about where we are going after Shad finishes this job or what God's reason was for moving us to the desert in the first place. But that I just need to focus on now, always be thankful and bask in the peace of knowing that He is in control. Thank you God for this life in the desert!

My sweet little girl just being herself...adorable!

Okay, this post made me teary when I read it last night. It was either because it hit really close to home or possibly because I had just finished reading "My Sisters Keeper" which also made me teary. This is my favorite post so far, just in case you wanted to know :o)
