This little girl turned two years old yesterday.
Since we celebrated her birthday on Sunday, we didn’t do anything big for her on her actual birthday.
But that doesn’t mean that she didn’t want to have an exciting day.
After the big kids got home from school and while Mom was distracted doing work on the computer, she was playing with her big bro on the floor.
I heard her start to cry and turned around to see her holding her right arm. I knew instantly what was wrong with her. The same thing happened back in June, on Father’s Day, when Shad and I were swinging her while we walked out to the car after church. Shad lifted and I didn’t and he felt a pop in her same arm.
Her elbow was dislocated, again. Poor Josh felt so bad. I had him demonstrate on Hannah what he did, while I held a whimpering Bethany on my lap. After he showed me that he tried to pull her up from laying on the floor on her back by her forearms, I knew we needed to get Bethany to the doctor. Boo.
I called our doctor’s office and they told to come right in as they were closing in 15 minutes. We made a mad dash to the office and, after about 10 minutes, had seen the doctor and had her elbow put right back where it belonged.
Bethany instantly felt better and got to pick a kazoo out of the treasure box. If there is one thing Shad and I have learned about our little two year old is that there is never a dull moment as far as this girl is concerned. Bethany is a little spitfire, and, while she keeps us on our toes, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
(Important lessons we have learned about Bethany’s elbow: Never pull on her arms, especially if it is a holiday! And, while we pray it never happens again, if it is going to, it needs to be before 5 pm on a weekday. On Father’s Day we had to go the ER and pay a $250 copay, at the MD office, we paid $20.)

Oh my word. I am so glad it wasn't worse, but STILL! We've gone through that with Eva a couple of times when she was that age and it is no fun. But seriously Becky, she is SO stinkin' adorable! Oh my goodness I love her little cheeks and bangs. Every time I see her I think of the special way God confirmed she was to be in your lives. Happy Birthday Bethany!
