God's Timing is Always Good

Two and a half years ago I agreed to do a 5K with my friend, Jen. The 5K never actually happened.  (Well, OK, the 5K did happen, we just weren't there.)  But Jen and I did train diligently for a couple of months.  We met Saturday mornings, did our run/walk together and we talked, a lot.  One subject we talked about was having a third child.  We were both moms of 2 kids and felt like God was leading us in the direction of a third.  The only difference was that I was going to do it the conventional way (morning sickness, get fat, sciatica, give birth) and Jen was going to adopt, internationally.  God was doing stuff and it was going to be big.

About a year later I was able to hold my sweet Bethany in my arms, but Jen was going to have to wait even longer than she had anticipated to hold her sweet Asher in her arms.  After some set backs, schedule changes and a huge flood in Thailand, last Tuesday Jen and her husband Trent walked off of an airplane holding their son in their arms.  It was an absolute honor to be there among the large group of welcomers cheering for them.

Here we are waiting for them to arrive.

Here's Rory and her girls.

Kristen, Rory, Amy (not pictured, she was home with daycare kiddos) and I got to put on a shower for Jen last month that was so much fun and a gigantic tear-fest!

As soon as they walked into view I jumped up on a table to get a pic of the welcome.  You can see Trent under the red dot on the right.  People cheered, whistled and cried all at the same time.

Here's Asher taking it all in.  That's his dad Trent and his brother and sister, Carson and Sydney, are behind Trent getting a good look at their new baby brother.

I love that Carson and Asher were wearing matching outfits.  This was coordinated from two different continents.  Just before I took this pic, Sydney was trying to tickle Asher.  Pretty ridiculously precious.

It warms my heart to see this family of 5, ordained by God before any of them were born, all together.

Thank you, Jen, for allowing me to be a tiny part of God's calling in your life to bring this little boy into your family!
