Bethany's Party

I've had a couple of days to mentally recuperate from radiation, day 3.  I was very relieved when Shad told me that he found Monday very difficult, too.  It wasn't easy for either of us to sit in that room full of cancer patients.  It revealed the reality to both of us that I am a cancer patient, too.  I have had a couple of days to let this sink in and I am doing much better.  God is good.  Even when didn't have the energy or will to ask for His help, He was there giving me just what I need.  I am thankful for that.  Also, my mom has been here for the last couple of days and it has been therapeutic to have her here to talk to.  She has shared some of her feelings from when she was the mom of a 5 year old with lymphoma.  It's been nice to have someone here that has been through this before and can validate a lot of my feelings.  Thank you, Mom.

On that note, I would like to officially change the subject.

Saturday night we celebrated Bethany's first birthday.  It was so much fun.  We had 22 adults, 11 kids and 3 babies in our house all at once.  I am so thankful for this big house that we are temporarily living in.

I got some balloons to put at the end of the driveway that she enjoyed dragging around as she scooted through the house.

Shad helped me blow up balloons like only a man could do.  He took them out to the garage and blew them up with the air compressor.

I used a needle and thread to string the balloons up.  It turned out really cute.  Yay for Pinterest!  Thanks, Amy!

The party throne.

We started with pizza for dinner.

So pretty.

The princess getting ready to open presents.

Her new hat.

And sunglasses.

Grandma Connie made her a beautiful quilt.

And Mom and Dad got her her first Pillow Pet.

Impatiently waiting for cake!
(Hannah wore the same shirt when she ate her first birthday cake.)

Oooooh, fire.

She did not mess around.

Double fisted all the way.

Such a sweet ending to a great party.

We love this girl!

What a fun party! That's too funny about Shad with the air compressor too. It must be their engineering brains :)
