Some Goals for the New Year

I don't usually make it a point to make New Year's resolutions.  But this year I think it is important for me to make a list of goals I would like to achieve over the next year.  Shad and I have been through a lot of changes with his new job, having a baby, our move and putting the kids in public school.  Some of these goals I expect to accomplish in the next month and some will take the whole year and even longer.  I feel like if I write them out here, I will be more accountable.  So here goes:

-Start a daily prayer journal and spend at least 5 minutes a day really praying.  For Monday through Friday I have specific people that I will be praying for, either generally or for a specific matter.

-Start the women's bible study at our new church.  (That starts tomorrow.)

-Be open to the people/new friends that God will be putting in my life over the next year.

-Shad and I will join a small group at our new church.  (I haven't told him that this is one of my goals, but I think we are pretty much on the same page with this one.)

-Find a new line of hair care products.

-Find a new hair dresser.

-Find a new Mary Kay lady in our new town.

-Find a new dentist for the family.

-Continue my exercise routine, burning at least 2500 calories per week.

-Have my weight be in the 140's by our trip to Maui in 5 weeks.  Only 3.5 pounds to go for that.

-Get rid of the tiny wart on my leg, preferably before Maui.

-Get rid of my eczema, preferably before Maui.  I am waiting for a biopsy result on that one.  It didn't respond to the strong steroid cream the way it should have, so my dermatologist did a punch biopsy.  Should know what it really is and how to treat it in the next week.

-Purchase a flattering bathing suit definitely before we go to Maui.  And be happy in it even if my body is not exactly how I want it.

-No cookies before bed for one month.  I started this on Dec. 27th.  You see, Shad and I, for years, have been enjoying warm, Nestle Toll house cookies with milk pretty much every night before bed.  It's been like our the-kids-are-in-bed date.  I cut back to only 2 from the usual 4 after Bethany was born.  But I decided to stop for a month and just see if it makes a difference in my weight loss.  After a few days of me not eating them, Shad has stopped also.  It's a good thing, but it's also kind of sad.  We are just going to have to find a healthy snack to enjoy together to celebrate that the kids are in bed.

Well, I think that's it.  I'll check back in a couple months and see where I am at and I'll let you know.

My hairdresser is in portland and I love her. Penelope Christiansen www.redmagnoliasalon.com. They are in the Alberta/Mississippi area. Warning...she is pretty "portlandia vegan-ish" but she has done a great job with my hair. She's not super cheap, but she also has worked with me to find a cut/color that I can get away with doing once every 3-4 months.

She also sells great products. Davines and Kevin Murphy are my favorite (and I buy them on amazon usually although she sells them in her shop).

Hope you had a great Christmas!
