Last night Shad and I had a bit of a battle with Josh about cleaning up the K'nex he had dumped all over the floor. It went so far that Josh missed his snack because he sat and sat instead of doing what he was told. He melted at that point and threw a fit. He cried and cried, "I want my snaaaack!" But we held firm and he didn't get one and he eventually calmed down enough to reluctantly clean up his toys.
Fast forward to today when I went to pick him up from school. He ran out of class to show me the certificate that he got from his teacher. She explained that she told the class that after they were done with their project she wanted them to quietly get a book to read at their desks. She said that Josh was the only student that did what she asked, so he got a special award for obeying. Makes a mommy proud...for a brief minute.
When we got in the car I reminded Josh about how he missed his snack for not obeying Mom and Dad and that I was happy to see that he obeyed his teacher today. A few seconds later I heard him mumble, "If you were Mrs. D, I would obey you too." So much for proud, argh! So now, as I write this, that same boy has been in his room for the last hour avoiding picking up the Legos that are strewn all over this bedroom floor. I just told him if he is not done by dinner time, he will miss dinner. I guess he wasn't kidding. **Sigh**

I can't believe he said that! It's so funny the things they will come up with. Rach tells me all the time that she doesn't love me if I don't give her something. It breaks your heart, but you know you're doing the right thing. Hang in there and win the battle!
