First of all and most importantly, Shad was home this weekend! I only get him for about a day and a half, but the time is so important to him, me and the kids. We also had some oh so welcomed guests stay over on Saturday night. Our very first visit from our desert friends, Kat and Ralf. The first day we met them while living in the desert they took us right in and had us over for a BBQ. They've been our great friends ever since.
Kat works for Shad as a laborer on the bridge over there (yes, I have always said she is a bit crazy), so Kat and Ralf came over here so they could attend the annual bridge building company Christmas Party. It was a fun night of awesome food, a lot of gambling with fake money (the best kind of gambling) and good company. And the topper to the night was when I came home with a 3 PACK of flashlights!! What girls doesn't need not one, not two but three LED flashlights? I guess it was better than the industrial sized jars of PB&J we brought home last year.
While I was primping for the party, I decided to curl my hair. I always feel like curled hair is dressed up even though once I get it curled I never have any idea what to do with it. So it is usually my normal hair-do only curled. I was trying to hurry and felt a little frazzled so I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing. The next thing I knew I had set the hot end of the curling iron in my left hand and had even wrapped my hand around it before I noticed what was happening. Needless to say the iron hit the floor and I really wanted to blurt out some choice words. I am not normally a cussing person but I felt this warranted a few colorful words. Unfortunately Shad and the kids were sitting on the bed just outside the door, so I pretty much just yelled, "What am I doing?!!!!" I spent most of the evening at the party with a cold drink in my left hand. Ugh!
Burned hand aside, it was a truly fun weekend and I was so happy to spend it with my husband and some great friends. I love that we have a whole other family on the other side of the state that we can go visit and they can come here to visit too. And to top it all off, I have a lifetime supply of flashlights.
